The chronology of events in GAIL’s entry into Telecom sector is as follow....

1987:
GAIL commissions HBJ microwave based network.

1997:
GAIL commissions its first OFC based network – GREP – 670 km.

1999:
National Telecom Policy identifies GAIL as a Telecom infrastructure provider.

2000:
1. GAIL commissions its Jamnagar-Loni P/L OFC network – 1300 km.
2. AIL board approves GAIL’s entry in Telecom business.

2001:
1. GAIL obtains first Infrastructure Provider Category II license.
2. GAIL leases bandwidth to Bharti Airtel through the first service level agreement.

2002:
1. GAIL commissions its Phase I network – 1700 km.
2. GAIL takes Category ‘A’ Internet Service Provider license.

2005:
GAIL obtains IP-I registration from DOT.
