The Elixir of Life – Initiatives to enable reach of potable Drinking Water

Realising that the basic requirement of potable drinking water is a clearly  identified need in many villages of rural India, GAIL has taken this up as a thrust area. In consultation with the District/local authorities, several work- centers of GAIL across the country, have undertaken projects in this domain, based on local requirements. Providing bore-wells, tube-wells, hand-pumps, overhead tanks as well as storage facilities are efforts taken in this direction, which have brought significant relief to the villagers, specially women who had to traverse long distances to fetch drinking water for their daily consumption. Needless to say that these efforts have helped improve the quality of life of the beneficiary villages and have drawn appreciation from the villagers.
